The PhD student Josep Martínez-Romeu, representing the Chiralforce team from UPV, presented an oral talk titled “Chiral Optical Forces in a Slot Waveguide for Separating [6]-Helicene Enantiomers” at METAMATERIALS 2025. This 19th International Congress on Artificial Materials for Novel Wave Phenomena took place in Amsterdam from September 1 to September 6, 2025.
In their research, the Chiralforce team explored, through numerical simulations and analytical calculations, the feasibility of separating chiral molecules using guided light in a dielectric slot waveguide. Their findings indicate that it is possible to separate helicene enantiomers suspended in gas within a few hours by applying optical powers of 100 mW.
It was a great experience to present at the Congress and to engage in such interesting discussions and presentations.
